added 09.08.09

Question of the Day - Can You Have Friendships at Work?
And later on the program - Building Blocks for Better Relationships - CLARITY
Part 1 - Friendships at Work
One word answer - No.
Work is defined by the fact it's centered around money, or accomplishing a goal for the organization.
Friendship is different than "friendly."
"Friendship is looking for for an emotional connection to resolve an issue that person has on a communal level, that is not appropriate in the workplace."
16:30 - Family in the work place.
A functioning family the currency is love, not money.
Here is the website for the documentary mentioned in the show: The Corporation
Part 2 - Clarity
One needs to be clear with oneself.
What are our personal agendas?
What unresolved issues am I projecting onto my employees?
Clarity can be very gentle and very friendly.
Harshness comes from being insecure.
Treat people with clarity - They are not what they do. Their title is not who they are.
Who they are as an individual that's important.
If you're clear, your employees will be clear, you managment staff will be clear.
29:00 - When bringing in new employee: "Don't plant a tomato and expect a cauliflower - The first seed you put in there: Clarity of who you are, clarity of who they are, respect of the individual, knowledge of the job, what's the parameters of the job, and friendliness - but not friendship."

This is good Cynthia. I believe such sound reasoning and advice must be backed by ample real-world experience as well as intuitive/psychic perception.
